You will be one of two expats in a staff of locals. How will you handle being an outsider?

Well, that is one of the benefits of being a manager and being in charge. The local staff really has the responsibility of getting used to my style. I have managed a staff for five years, and I have learned a lot about orienting a staff and getting people on board with the mission we are given. In a few weeks or months, I think we will be a great team.
I don’t mind being an outsider; I am being sent to do a job and will focus on the task at hand and getting the job done for the company.
I know it will be imperative for me to quickly establish my credibility and develop a strong team. I believe my previous management experience with a diverse US team has allowed me to refine my team-building and interpersonal skills, and I plan to make it a priority to respect my new staff, get individual input and develop a consensus so we may reach our goals.
